Sheffield is renowned for its warm and welcoming approach to visitors

Sheffield is England’s fourth largest city, after Leeds, Birmingham and London. With a population in excess of 512,000, it’s considered to be one of the safest cities in the UK cities to live and work. Student Accommodation Sheffield

Much of the city lies within the Peak District National Park (in fact it’s the only UK city to have a national park within its boundaries), and also contains 150 woodlands and 50 public parks making it England’s greenest city.

Despite the much-loved greenery, Sheffield is also known as ‘the city of steel’, due to its iconic steel industry, and is still regarded as one of the world’s most skilled manufacturing areas in advanced engineering and specialist steels.

Most Popular with Student Houses Sheffield

Voted as being the most popular student destination in the UK, more graduates decide to stay in Sheffield once they have finished their studies than in any other university city. Both of the universities in Sheffield are renowned for producing successful graduates, with over 92% of the 12,000 that emerge each year going on to find gainful employment.

Sports enthusiasts will be keen to know that Sheffield FC is the oldest running football team on the planet, and the only other team apart from Real Madrid to be awarded the FIFA Order of Merit. But, if football’s not your thing, then Sheffield is of course home to the Crucible Theater, where the World Snooker Championship is held every year.
